Karnataka: Another cop accuses government of harassment

Karnataka: Another cop accuses government of harassment, GN Mohan

Inspector GN Mohan, posted in Karwar in a non-executive post, is latest in the queue to accuse the government of harassment.

Apparently, Inspector Mohan had filed cases against several Congress leaders, including the CM’s son Rakesh, for causing disturbances in the Nazarbad Police Station limits, during assembly elections in 2013.

Nazarbad comes under the Varuna constituency - the CM’s native place.

Mohan has alleged that he is suffering from depression as the government had sent him on an extended leave, soon after Siddaramaiah came to power.

Now, Mohan’s elder brother GN Shivarudrappa has come before the media to claim, “CM Siddaramaiah will be directly responsible if anything happens to my brother.”

“I have asked him to resign if the situation becomes unbearable. This has affected his family too as his wife is severely ill due to tension. If Mohan takes any extreme step, Siddaramaiah will be held responsible for it,” he said.

This sort of 'will be directly responsible' allegation seems to have become some new fad in Karnataka, in particular among those making claims against the government.

Though the case is from 2013, the issue has gained a new life following DySP MK Ganapathy’s suicide being allegedly the result of harassment from a minister and top police officials.
