If asked, will resign in 60 seconds: Karnataka Minister KJ George
After a stormy session in the Karnataka assembly over MK Ganapathy's suicide, a campaign by the media for 'justice' and a statewide protest demanding the sacking Minister KJ George, he said he would resign only if the CM requires it
Â
He was speaking to the media during the session break; he stated: "If Siddaramaiah asks me to step down, I will not think twice and resign in a minute."
Â
George also pleaded innocence and claimed that there was no evidence against him. He alleged that forces opposed to him were using Ganapathy's suicide to topple him.
Â
To the question for harassment against Ganapathy, as claimed by the officer, the minister said this is far from the truth.Â
Â
The officer had once come to me when I was the home minister to revoke his suspension in the Rajgopalnagar station case where the officer was accused of taking a bribe. I refused to do so. After that I was never in contact with the officer, said George.Â
Â
He further stated that he never pressurised any police officer during his sting as Home Minister. "It is true that I was at Mangaluru after the church attack incident in 2014, but never interfered with the police investigation," he said.
Â
Ganapathy was serving as police inspector at Kadri police station in Mangaluru when the attack against churches had taken place.
