Meanwhile, the government seems to have lost the initial enthusiasm to take back the public land allegedly in possession of the Law Academy. The entrance of the Academy had been demolished by Revenue Department after it was found that it was an encroachment into the public property. But the crackdown stopped there, and no further action followed.

An inquiry by the Revenue Principal Secretary had recommended a thorough inquiry into the public land in possession of KLA. The KLA management of the went into the hands of a trust controlled by the family of former principal Lakshmi Nair through shady means, the report of the Revenue Principal Secretary had stated. It also found that the changes in the structure of the trust were 'mysterious' and 'ambiguous.' Even though the report also recommended a comprehensive investigation into the misuse of the public land allocated to the KLA, nothing has been initiated so far.
