Hundreds of Keralites are stranded in Bengaluru and elsewhere in Karnataka. Kerala's plans to bring them to safety was hit after the KSRTC services were hit by unrest. Amidst tension in Karnataka over Cauvery water sharing with Tamil Nadu, Kerala government has decided to send a company of police personnel to Bengaluru to ensure the safety of Malayalees stranded in the trouble-torn city. The decision to send 100 policemen was taken after the Kerala Police Chief held talks with his counterpart in Karnataka.

The state government has also decided to provide food and accommodation to Keralites trapped in Karnataka. The government has assigned a coordinator in Bengaluru for this. The officer can be contacted by dialling 09535092715.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promised that his government would do everything in its capacity to ensure the safety of Malayalees there.
As the mayhem hit the inter-state bus services, hundreds of Malayalees are stranded in different parts of Karnataka and their hopes to reach home for Onam celebration on Wednesday dashed to the ground, thanks to unrest.
Meanwhile, the Southern Railway has decided to run two special trains from Bengaluru to Kerala. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is also planning special services to bring back Malayalees.
