The Bengaluru City police has initiated an anti-sabotage drive for the last two days at all the divisions and pressed over 250 Hoysala patrolling vehicles to ensure no untoward incidents take place during Ramzan.

In this drive, the city will have deputed police vehicles all over and if there are any suspicious elements, they will be detained. 

The city that recently witnessed a shootout in Shivaji Nagar limits in which the police shot two accused, Shabbir and Barkat, for their involvement in killing another rowdy, Parvez, over a hafta dispute, is in fear.

The entire police force is geared to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incidents on Thursday.

Charan Reddy, aditional commissioner of police, Bengaluru City, said, barring the police in night duty, all the executive and non-executive police staff will be roped in.

“About 36 KSRP platoons, 48 City Armed Reserved police units, 700 home guards will be deputed at various locations. The sensitive areas will have extra police force," said Reddy.

Community leaders also have been asked to cooperate with the police during festivals for peaceful Eid celebrations and hold peace meetings to avoid clashes.

Maqsood Imran Rashadi, Khateem- O-Imam, Jamia Masjid, Bengaluru has issued a circular to 6,000 mosques in Karnataka asking the community leaders and priests of respective mosques to hold a special sermon on law and order and solid waste management.

“Direction has been given to priests to tell the youth, boys just out of their teenage and children, not to break rules. No wheeling on flyovers and highways. No fights,” he said.

Rashadi also said the Muslims are a peace-loving community and they should set an example by respecting the sentiments of other communities. “We also have a special community wing and they will be watching the youths. In case if the members involve themselves in some kind of shameful activity, the parents and police will be informed," he added.
