The Congress office witnessed a protest by supporters of MLA Ramalinga Reddy. The supporters were led by former Mayor N Manjunath Reddy and corporator Rizwan Nawab. The protesters claim that Ramalinga Reddy has been side-lined.
 

The contest between two Congress aspirants Sowmya Shivakumar and Gangambike became volatile with the former garnering support from DK Shivakumar, NA Harris and G Parameshwar. However, Reddy being in power for seven times as MLA and holding the post of minister for four times in the past, ensured his supporter gets the post.
 

Ramalinga Reddy had served as the transport minister and later as the home minister in the previous government led by Siddaramaiah in Karnataka.

In another case of alleged malpractice during election season, Karnataka home minister, Ramalinga Reddy has been accused of rigging votes in his constituency which is BTM layout.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy exclusively told Asianet Newsable that he does not feel that rising voter turnout posses any threat to the standing Government.
