The Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh was asked to conduct the floor-test based on the direction of the Supreme Court. Both the Congress and the BJP had issued the crucial whip for their MLAs. But just before the trust vote, CM Kamal Nath announced his resignation.

In all, 17 Congress MLAs were supposed to flee Madhya Pradesh for Bengaluru, but chief minister Kamal Nath reportedly got wind of it, and was able to hold back several of them, according to BJP sources in Bengaluru.

JD(S) leader TA Sharavana has claimed that senior BJP leader Aravind Limbavali, who was instrumental in convincing few Congress MLAs to join the BJP, has sought blessings of Vinay Guruji to secure a place in BS Yediyurappa's Cabinet. Sharavana who is close to Guruji is said to have played a pivotal role in securing the appointment for Limbavali.

Assembly elections to constituencies in Jharkhand are likely to be held in November or December. Ahead of the polls, two MLAs from Congress, one from JMM and one independent MLA have joined the BJP.
