Lok Sabha elections 2024 are underway and on April 26, as many as 89 constituencies spread across 13 states and Union Territories (UTs) will vote in the Phase 2 of the general elections. 

Kerala Opposition leader VD Satheesan asserted UDF's potential to win all 20 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections with particular confidence in K Sudhakaran's victory in Kannur. He criticized the Chief Minister for seemingly appeasing Modi by speaking against Rahul Gandhi and highlighted instances of alleged communal polarization by the Left. 

Kannur District Collector Arun K Vijayan has suspended the Special Polling Officer, Polling Assistant Micro Observer, Special Police Officer, and Videographer present during the incident.

Thrissur and Palakkad districts recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius while Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts recorded a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius today.

INS Sindhudhvaj which was decommissioned on July 16 2022 was brought to the Azhikkal port in Kannur for dismantling. The submarine was brought ashore after five days of effort.

The police arrested two more people in Panoor bomb blast. The police has arrested all the accused including 4 DYFI workers.

Despite having summer rains, the temperature continues to reach 39 degrees in Thrissur and 38 degrees in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Kannur and Kozhikode districts.

The bomb squad has conducted checks along the border areas and heightened security measures across the state following Panoor bomb blast. A Special Investigation Team has taken four people into custody over the bomb blast that claimed one life at Panoor on Friday (April 5).

A man begging on a Jan Shatabdi Express from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur, attacked the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) when asked to show a ticket. The incident occurred as the train departed from Thiruvananthapuram Central Station on Thursday (April 04). The Railway police have registered a case against the accused for attacking TTE in the train following the incident.

Two men identified as Vineesh and Sherin suffered severe injuries after an explosion when they were making bombs on the terrace of a house in Panoor in the Kannur district on Friday (April 05).

In the upcoming 2024 elections, K Sudhakaran is contesting for the Congress and UDF, while CPM's Jayarajan is the LDF candidate. The BJP has nominated C Raghunathan as its candidate for the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency. 

In Kozhikode district, temperatures may soar up to 38 degrees Celsius, while in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kasaragod districts, the maximum temperature may reach up to 36 degrees Celsius.
