The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning stating that heat wave conditions will persist in several areas of Kollam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts from April 26 to April 28, 2024.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high-temperature alert across the state today. The IMD stated that the temperature may rise to 40 degrees Celsius in Palakkad district. Due to high temperatures and humid air, districts including Kollam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode are likely to experience hot and humid conditions till April 26.

A wild elephant fell into a well on private property in Vellakkarithadom, Thrissur, prompting rescue efforts that unfortunately ended in the animal's death. The property owner, Surendran, discovered the elephant and alerted forest officials. 
 

The iconic temple festival in Kerala, the Thrissur Pooram faced disruption due to police restrictions for crowd management, leading to criticism of the state government's handling of the situation. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed the state police chief to transfer Thrissur Police Commissioner Ankit Asokan and Assistant Commissioner K Sudarsan with the permission of the Election Commission. 
 

The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next 5 days. Meanwhile,  the maximum temperature in the Kollam and Thrissur districts is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius.

The Thrissur Pooram fireworks, a highly anticipated event, faced delays and disruptions due to disagreements between Devaswom officials and cops. However, after discussions involving officials, the fireworks were eventually conducted, with the Parmekkavu faction initiating the display followed by the Thiruvambady faction.
