Madani denied parol sons wedding PDP hartal

The court has rejected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman a petition given by Abdul Nasser Madani seeking permission to attend his son's marriage. Protesting against the decision, the PDP has announced a hartal in Kerala on Wednesday.

The court of National Investigation Agency (NIA), in Bengaluru, has allowed him to stay in Kerala for seven days from August 1 to 7. The court also observed that the Supreme Court had earlier granted permission to Madani to visit his ailing mother and father.

The marriage is on August 9, and Madani had sought permission from the court to be in Kerala for 20 days from August 1. His counsel asked permission pointing to an earlier judgment of the same court, which granted permission to Madani to attend his daughter's wedding. However, the court rejected the plea.

Madani is the prime accused in the Bengaluru serial blasts, in 2008, in which one person was killed and 20 others injured. He was arrested by Kerala police on August 17, 2010, and was handed over to Bengaluru police and was lodged in Parapanna Agrahara prison.
