To eliminate the use of single-use plastic items, the Centre announced on Tuesday that from July 1, 2022, India would prohibit the manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale, and use of identified single-use plastic items with low utility and high littering potential. Following the press release from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, control rooms will be established at the national and state levels to ensure effective enforcement of the ban on identified single-use plastic items.
