Delhi rains: Heavy rain lashes parts of national capital for 2nd consecutive day, IMD issues alert

Waterlogging caused severe traffic delays in different districts of Delhi on Wednesday morning. Many roads have been flooded as a result of the storm.

The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy rain for portions of Delhi for the second day in a row on Wednesday. The meteorological service issued an orange warning for Delhi, expecting moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms and the surrounding national capital area.
"or the past seven days, the National Capital, Delhi, has seen moderate to heavy rain. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall may occur later in the day on Lodhi Road and the regions around Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

The IMD forecasts severe rainfallDelhi'sunderstorms in the National Capital Region (NCR) regions of Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Noida, Greater Noida, Indirapuram, Loni Dehat, Ghaziabad, Dadri, and neighbouring areas.

 

The national capital's temperature has dropped due to the continuous mild rainfall in Delhcapital'srounding areas since August 28. On Tuesday, the high temperature was 34 degrees Celsius. Before August 28, residents of the capital city and the neighbouring regions suffered from oppressive heat and humidity. The moderate rains that began on Sunday will provide much-needed relief from the heat and humidity.

Heavy rain has been falling in various areas of the Delhi-NCR region since this morning, causing traffic congestion, particularly for office workers and merchants. Waterlogging caused severe traffic delays in different districts of Delhi on Wednesday morning. Many roads have been flooded as a result of the storm.
According to the IMD, moderate to heavy rain will occur in Delhi and surrounding areas between September 1 and September 4. Until the end of August, the National Capital got 144.7 mm of rain.

The Delhi Police has diverted numerous highways due to heavy rain and flooding. The Delhi Police has advised people to use other routes from Roshanara Road or Anand Parbat since the Zakhira underpass is blocked owing to flooding.
