A couple in Telangana, Ravi Kumar and Lalitha, were undergoing police counseling for their strained marriage. During the session, the wife declared she no longer wanted the relationship or her children and left, followed shortly by the husband, abandoning their two daughters at the police station.
Telangana police found themselves in a muddle after a couple left their two daughters at a police station in the middle of a counseling session. In a shocking turn of events, the father left the police station after the wife did, abandoning his kids in the process. Ravi Kumar, a shop owner, and Lalitha, a nursing student, had a love marriage nearly a decade ago. Over the years, their relationship grew strained, resulting in frequent arguments.

Police called both parties for counselling after Lalitha had previously complained to them about home problems. The situation worsened during one such counselling session on April 28 when Lalitha took off her toe rings and mangalsutra (a sacred thread or necklace that represents marital status), put them on the table, and said she no longer wanted to take care of the kids or continue the relationship. She then left the station.
Ravi followed her and left the police station soon afterwards, abandoning their two daughters behind.
The kids were left terrified and in tears, according to authorities at the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) police station in the Karimnagar area, because neither parent answered calls.
Sub-Inspector Anwar and other police officers intervened to reassure the kids and make sure they were secure. Officers contacted the children's paternal grandmother after many attempts to contact the parents failed, and she subsequently took them into her care.
Police authorities stated they are keeping a careful eye on the situation, even though no legal case has been recorded thus far. They noted that the children's welfare, who were caught in the midst of a worsening family collapse, continues to be the first priority. Police are advising the couple to reconsider and steer clear of the conflict with the assistance of local elders.
