Remembering the soldiers who laid down their lives while securing India’s sovereignty and integrity, the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps organised the motorcycle rally, which reached Daulat Beg Oldie and paid homage to the brave hearts. 

Flagged off by its Corps Commander Lt Gen PGK Menon on July 19, the motorcycle rally has been organised to commemorate the 22nd Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. 

The team comprising of 15 Army personnel reached Km-120 on the Darbuk-Shyok-Doulat Beg Oldie Road from Leh via Chang La and was received by the forward-deployed troops with great enthusiasm, Srinagar-based Defence PRO Col Emron Musavi said.

 The rally will travel through extremely harsh terrain and weather to spread the message of patriotism and brotherhood. The rally will cover a distance of 1000-km from Leh to Drass via DBO. 

Also known as XIV Corps, the Fire and Fury Corps has the double task of dealing with China in Ladakh and Pakistan in the Drass-Kargil-Batalik and the Siachen sector.

The riders will return to Km-120 after covering a distance of 340 Km across the Pangong and Karakoram ranges, Col Musavi said. 

Besides, as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsha or the 50th year of 1971 war victory over Pakistan, the Fire and Fury Corps is also conducting a Siachan Cricket league, painting and drawing competitions in different parts area of responsibilities.
