Coronavirus: India’s COVID-19 caseload breaches 67-lakh mark with spike of 72,049 new cases
Over 67 lakh coronavirus cases have been detected so far in India, with 72,049 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll from the virus has reached 1,04,555, as per the latest update from the health ministry.
India's COVID-19 tally sprinted past 67 lakh with 72,049 fresh cases in a span of 24 hours, while over 57 lakh people have recovered from the disease so far, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Wednesday.
The total coronavirus cases rose to 67,57,132 with 72,049 infections being reported in a day, while the death toll reached 1,04,555 after 986 people succumbed to the disease in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The total recoveries surged to 57,44,694 in the country, pushing the nation's recovery rate to 85.02%.
The COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded at 1.55%.
There are 9,07,883 active cases in the country which comprise 13.44% of the total caseload, the data stated.
According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 8,22,71,654 samples have been tested up to October 7 with 11,99,857 samples being tested on Tuesday.
