Watch: Are fruits and navels sensual? Here's what Taapsee thinks!

  • Taapsee Pannu recently ridiculed Telugu director K Raghavendra Rao over his obsession for navels.
  • Taapsee made sarcastic remarks about the same while making an appearance on a stand-up comedy show.
  • Her remarks have gone viral and have left some fans of the director disgruntled.
Taapsee Pannu says how throwing a coconut at her navel was sexy

Taapsee Pannu was seen giving a powerful performance opposite megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the super hit Bollywood movie, Pink. Interestingly, she has now found herself in the middle of a controversy after she took a dig at director Raghavendra Rao, who launched her in the South film industry - via some strange fruit-based navel shots.

Telugu director Raghavendra Rao has launched several top actresses like Sridevi and Jayasudha. In a recently video on YouTube, Taapsee Pannu, also launched by him via Jhummandi Naadam, was asked about her experience working down South.

In the stand-up comedy show, the actress made sarcastic remarks saying, "In the South, they think I can only pull off glamorous roles. When they saw 'Pink' and '(Naam) Shabana', they were like, oh, she can act."

When the anchor of the show asked Taapsee about South industry's obsession with the navel, the Pink actress said, “If I knew about this in my research before I'd gone to the South I would've worked on my navel. I clearly didn't. They didn't even start with a scene. They started with a song itself."

"The director (K Raghavendra Rao) who launched me is known to show the sensuality of a woman by showing the midriff and throwing fruits and flowers on that area. So it was his 105th movie with me,” she recalled "And my turn came, and maybe because I was not prepared as I told you, they threw a coconut at me! I don't know what's sensuous about a coconut hitting my midriff."

Her comments about the legendary filmmaker have not gone down too well with fans, who now accuse her of 'becoming too big' after leaving the South. Sour grapes? And while no one can say if Taapsee is big or small, she does have a point - what is it with fruits and navels?

Have a look at the song she was talking about:

After, looking at the song, we can understand that yes, she was right. The perverted camera angles and the ridiculous costumes Taapsee is wearing in the song screams an obsession with the midriff. The song is a good example of women objectification and is really uncomfortable to watch.
