In advance of the public debut of its much awaited Mufasa SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show the following week, Hyundai has unveiled the vehicle's first official photos. For the time being, the Korean automaker will only introduce the Mufasa SUV in China, where it has a joint venture with the Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC). According to reports, the ix35 will be replaced by the Hyundai Mufasa in the Chinese market.

The images of Hyundai's Mufasa SUV in production form have gone popular on Twitter. Social media users have given Mufasa's exterior design, which is enhanced by the company's Sensuous Sportiness design language, high ratings.

With the Mufasa, Hyundai deviated from the customary split headlight design. The automobile manufacturer has shown new single-piece, vertically oriented headlights that provide a particularly athletic appearance in the front. Because the grille takes up practically the whole front fascia, the SUV really has a fairly forceful face. SUV lovers will undoubtedly notice how Mufasa's front appearance mimics that of the MG Hector.

The heavy body covering and the design of Mufasa's metals also have a touch of the Alcazar about them. Even more stunning is the SUV's back appearance. It sports a gloss black panel with Hyundai branding in the centre, and the full-width LED taillight configuration at the back is really distinctive.

The sporty character of the SUV is further indicated by the bumper and a faux diffuser.

The Mufasa is described as having the following dimensions: 4,475mm in length, 1,665mm in height, 1,850mm in width, and 2,680mm in wheelbase on the website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Although Hyundai hasn't officially disclosed the information, the SUV is anticipated to be powered by a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine with 156 horsepower. It is a highly tuned engine that is used in India in the Tucson. It is uncertain whether Hyundai would export its Mufasa SUV to India.
