A woman's Facebook post has gone viral that states how a vacation turned into a nightmare as her mother was infected by a flesh eating bug. Yes, you heard that right!
A woman is fighting for life after being infected by a life-threatening disease when on vacation at Myrtle beach, South Carolina. A Facebook post by her daughter has now gone viral (via DailyMail) wherein you see the photos of the infected flesh.
A surgery is now required to cut the infected part and stop it from spreading. The post reads that the woman was infected by the flesh eating bacteria when she put her feet in the water at Myrtle beach.
Necrotising fasciitis is a rare infection capable of destroying the skin, fat, and the tissue covering the muscles. It can start from a minor injury, such as a small cut or insect bite as the bacteria enters a wound.
On the other hand, Myrtle Beach City Government put out a post stating there have been no reports of such issues. "Our ocean water quality is tested twice weekly, with excellent results. If we can determine where such contact may have occurred, we can order additional water quality tests to determine whether any connection exists," it added.
