Malayalees continue to troll Shah; Vamana is enemy of all Keralites, says VS

  • The BJP president gets widely trolled for wishing Vamana Jayanti on Onam eve.
  • Even though Amit Shah posted Onam greetings on Wednesday, the controversy refuses to die down.
Vamana controversy and Onam

BJP President Amit Shah is getting severely trolled by Malayalees on social media platforms for wishing Vamana Jayanti on the eve of Onam, the national festival Kerala and for allegedly trying to 'Brahminise' the quintessential  Malayalee festival that celebrated equality of all humans.

But, perhaps the sharpest reaction was from former Kerala Chief Minister and veteran Communist. "Vamana, who pushed our beloved King Maveli to the netherworld, is the enemy of all Malayalees," Achuthanandan stated.  "That is why Malayalees sharply reacted to BJP leader who wished Vamana Jayanti," he added.

Earlier, Kerala Chief Minister had stated that Amit Shah "insulted Kerala, Keralites and Kerala culture" by wishing Vamana Jayanthi.

As the trollers had a field day with a hashtag #PoMoneShaji, (get lost Shahji), the BJP president posted his Onam wishes in Malayalam on Wednesday. Supporters of Shah defended him saying that the BJP leader only wished Vamana Jayanti, a festival celebrated in some part of the country, especially in Madhya Pradesh. On Onam day, he greeted Malayalees as well, in their mother tongue. So why should they make so much fuss about it, they quipped.

But the irate Malayalees were not ready to take that. They cited the image of Vamana, posted by Shah, with his leg on the head of Mahabali (Maveli) and argued that the picture was self-explanatory.

Malayalee netizens also spammed Shah's Facebook page with trolls, abuse and sharp criticisms.
