Karimnagar, Warangal and Mahabubnagar districts have become hotbeds of resentment. People from Sircilla, Jangaon and Gadwal respectively are demanding to be upgraded as districts. But the government has announced Jagityal, Hanamakonda and Wanaparthy as districts, ignoring the demands.

Interestingly, though the state government has invited objections or suggestions on the new districts, it no plans to increase, remove wholly or re-designate the notified districts.

Much to the disappointment of the protagonists of agitations in many parts of the state, officials made it clear that suggestions were only welcome for minor alterations within the framework of the 17 new districts, in line with the Telangana Districts Formation Act, 1974 and Telangana District Formation Rules, 2016.

According to sources, people can post their suggestions for the inclusion or modification of some villages, mandals or divisions within a notified district. But these will only be considered based on the merit of the suggestion.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar has repeatedly said that the new districts would be functional from the date of the Hindu festival of Dasara (October 11), with limited staff drafted out of the existing districts.
