How a Pak cabbie changed a Malayalee's perception on humanity

  • Hisham Abdulsalam, an NRI working in UAE lost his wallet containing all important documents and identity cards while traveling in a taxi on Saturday evening.
  • Nearly five hours later, a Pakistani cab driver knocked at his door.
My friend from Pakistan helped me change my perception on humanity

With Kashmir on the boil, the bilateral relations between India and Pakistan is going through a tough phase. But a Pakistani cabbie, through his heart-warming gesture, has shown that humanity can surpass all political hostility and religious barriers.

Hisham Abdulsalam, a Keralite working at Ras al-Khaimah in UAE, forgot his wallet containing valuable documents and identity cards in a taxi car last Friday. Having lost the money and identity cards, he was in dire straits when a Pakistani taxi driver appeared like an angel and returned the wallet after five hours.

Narrating his experience, Abdulsalam, a native of Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram, took on to his Facebook page to thank the unknown Pakistani taxi driver who knocked at his door at around 12.45 in the night and returned the purse. “Brother, please make sure you have everything intact,” the cabbie said smiling.

When Abdulsalam offered a reward as a token of gratitude, the humble driver refused saying that it was his duty to return it to the owner.

These men, whom we ridicule in the name of religion and country, blur geographical and cultural differences through their little deeds of kindness, Abdulsalam says in his post.
