Let us rule Andhra Pradesh forever: CM Naidu to TDP workers

Inaugurating the party three-day annual meeting Mahanadu at Tirupati, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu called upon the 40,000-strong gathering of party cardholders to ensure that the TDP would be in power for next forty to fifty years in Andhra Pradesh.

Singapore is Naidu’s favourite city.  He is modelling the upcoming capital city of Amaravati on the lines of Singapore. The master plan of the city has been prepared by Singapore companies. Naidu is even setting up an institute on the lines of the Singapore Centre for Liveable Cities (CFL) to manage Amaravati City. He got his officers trained in urban management by CFL.

On several occasions, Naidu claimed Singapore's late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was his role model. The People’s Action Party (PAP), started by Lee, has been in power since 1959 and there is no strong opposition to it. CM Naidu seems to be replicating that model, by doing his best to liquidating the main opposition party - YRSC - in Andhra Pradesh.

“The TDP needs to be in power for long, say 40 to 50 years, for the development of people and the state. The party cadre should work keeping this in mind. You should aim to garner the support of  85% of the people of every village in order to make TDP the permanent ruling party in the state,” Naidu said amid whistles and claps.

Referring to the recent five-state Assembly elections where the AIADMK and TMC won with large majorities in Tamil Nadu and  West Bengal respectively for the second time consecutively, Naidu told the Mahanadu of TDP leaders, "Like ruling parties in TN, Odisha, Gujarat and West Bengal, our party too should be able to continue in power in the state, for a longer period. I want you to remain in power, forever."

He added that winning for the third time and a fourth time was not a pie-in-the-sky dream these days, unveiling his action plan to achieve the goal.

According to his plan, the benefits of reservations should go to every poor family, irrespective of the caste or religion. Naidu believed that extending reservation to every community is the best bet.

“Now reservation is being enjoyed only by SC, ST and BCs. There are poor among the upper castes as well. The TDP government will soon launch a statewide survey to identify the poor among the upper caste. Once the data of the poor is out, we will take steps to extend the reservation to these sections,” the TDP supremo said.

He recalled how the government had initiated steps for the welfare of the Kapus and Brahmins.

“We have set up a Kapu Commission to study the issue of including the Kapus to the list of OBCs. Kapu Finance Corporation has been set up. We have also constituted Brahmin Finance Corporation Limited to help the poor financially. In next round we will work towards helping the poor among upper castes,” Naidu said.
