Essential Service

Dubbed as 'Jan Anushasan Pakhwada', only shops and establishments dealing with essential services will be allowed to remain open during the period.

Essential services like hospitals, chemist shops and ATMs will be allowed to operate round-the-clock, while every other commercial establishment, including grocery stores, will have to down shutters by 9pm.

The curfew will begin from April 8 to April 30, and the timings will be from 10 pm to 6 am. Essential services will be exempted from these curbs.

 No public movement will be allowed in the city between 11 pm and 6 am, except for essential services.
 

 So far, women commuters, not working in the essential services sector, have been allowed to travel only during non-peak hours in view of Covid-19.

"The remaining staff will attend up to 50 per cent as per requirement to be assessed by heads of the departments concerned (remaining 50 per cent of the staff will work from home) till December 31, 2020, or till further orders whichever is earlier," stated the DDMA order.

Karnataka will likely see total bandh on September 28 as protests against farm, labour bills have intensified. Taxi, auto-rickshaw, BMTC, KSRTC and other transport services will be affected. Essential services across the state and Namma Metro services in Bengaluru will be available.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, repurposing of health workers, cancellation of elective care, closure of outpatient services, insufficient personal protective equipment, and changes in treatment policy have significantly impacted delivery of essential services.
