This time, the civic polls had a turnout of more over 52%. These civic polls in Guwahati are especially important since they were the first to employ EVMs in all booths. These elections had a total of 197 contestants.

As per reports, the senior election commission official stated that the election preparation would require nearly six months. 

Mamata Banerjee suggested that Akhilesh Yadav demand a forensic examination of the EVMs and raised concerns about the lapses in their handling.

"An FIR has been issued against Pramila Pandey under relevant provisions for breach of voting secrecy at Hudson School polling station," the Kanpur district magistrate tweeted.

This is a gross violation of EC’s instructions for which he has been suspended and charges will be framed for major punishment," the Election Commission said in a statement.

The Election Commission placed under suspension the Presiding Officer and three other officials for shifting the voting machine to another vehicle without checking its antecedents after their vehicle in which escorting the EVM to Karimganj after the polling got over at 6 pm on April 1, broke down.

Sharing a video of the incident, Priyanka claimed that every time election videos of private vehicles caught transporting EVMs show up, they usually belong to BJP candidates or their associates. 

The Election Commission rejected allegations of the TMC that there was discrepancy in poll turnout and malfunctioning of EVMs in South Kanthi.

The other prayers of the DMK, represented by its Organisation Secretary R S Bharathi, were to provide CCTV live coverage/web-stream during voting in all the polling booths and voting centers, to install jammers at the strong rooms, where EVMs are stored and at the counting centres.
