In a jolt to passengers looking to fly to Dubai via Emirates flight, the company has placed a ban on passenger flights from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The decision comes in the wake of the UAE government's direction to contain Covid which has become a concern in Asian countries.

However, keeping its trade option open, cargo flights will be allowed. Further, the airline through its notice has said that passengers who traveled through Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter the UAE from any entry point.

“UAE nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with updated COVID-19 protocols are exempt and may be accepted for travel,” a report quoted Airline's statement as per reports.

This apart, the United Arab Emirates has clamped restrictions on citizens from traveling to countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka following growing Covid cases.
