Smart parking will be an app-based system as well requiring you to purchase smart cards. Fee can be paid using debit card, credit card, online payment and other means of electronic transfer.

85 such zones in the city have been identified, where the Smart Parking will be implemented. These parking lots have been equipped with sensors and meters which will indicate the occupancy of a parking lot, availability of spots, payments etc. The BBMP hopes that this new system will help prevent any malpractices in parking.

Currently the BBMP is in the process of short listing bidders for the revenue sharing from parking money collection. Commuters on St Mark’s Road were explained the process through an organisation called Central Parking Services while, another company called CivicSmart displayed the same to commuters on Richmond Road.

According to report in the Times of India, CivicSmart along with its partner firm EmQos are the two bidders who have been shortlisted for the management of the automated parking facility.
