Siliguri college professor demands money from student to allot passing marks

A professor demanded money for passing a student in an examination. The TMCP approached the police to protest the issue. However, the professor of Siliguri College has denied all the allegations against him.

Siliguri: An astonishing incident took place in Siliguri. A professor demanded money for passing a student in the examination. According to reports, the professor said that the student will be passed only if she pays ten thousand rupees. However, the professor of Siliguri College has denied all the allegations against him.

Initially, it was known that the professor had been identified on the basis of the male voice spoken to the student. Amitabh Kanjilal is the professor of Political Science in Siliguri College.

The Trinamool Student Council of Siliguri College has complained that the professor demanded money from the student. They are going to approach the police alleging corruption in the field of education. The authorities of North Bengal University have promised to take action against the professor.

As it was posted on social media, there was a rumor in Siliguri College regarding an audiotape conversation. The male voice in the audiotape conversation told the student that it would cost money to get the pass mark in the examination.

To get the pass marks for Part-One and Part-Two examination, it will cost ten thousand rupees. Lots of controversies began after this audiotape conversation was posted on social media. North Bengal University authorities strongly criticized this incident.

Sujit Ghosh, a professor at Siliguri College, said, “This is a very unfortunate incident. I have no words to comment on this. A reputed college professor is tarnished today. We will discuss the matter in the steering committee.”

North Bengal University Vice-Chancellor Subiresh Bhattacharya said, "We will approach the police about the matter.”
