All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday launched his party's campaign for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly election from Ayodhya district.

Holding a media briefing, Owaisi said that his party will contest on 100 seats and exressed confidence that he would even win on all the seats.

Interacting with media persons, the AIMIM chief said that the condition of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh was worse than ever and his party would not follow anyone's agenda.

Stating the Muslims were nobody's slaves, the firebrand leader said the community, which voted and ensured victory for others for 60 years, will now vote to ensure their own victory.

Talking of alliances, Owaisi said that his party's sole objective was to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the AIMIM chief said he would wait for Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party to approach him for forming an alliance.

Owaisi is on a three-day tour of Uttar Pradesh during which he is scheduled to participate in several programmes.

Owaisi's tour began from Ayodhya's Rudauli town, where he addressed the Vanchit-Shoshit Sammelan, followed by an event on September 8 in Sultanpur. Owaisi will visit Barabanki on September 9.

To recall, Owaisi's party did not win any of the eight seats it contested in the West Bengal assemly elections. Prior to that, it managed to win just five out of the 20 seats it contested in Bihar's Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region during the 2020 assembly elections there.
