Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday (July 7 ) presented the state budget and made new announcements from the health and family welfare sector. In his budget speech, CM Siddaramaiah said, "Single-use dialysers will be introduced in all district and taluk hospitals. Existing dialysis centres to be increased from existing 173 to 219 at a cost of Rs 92 crore."

"State has taken up a unique program called 'Brain Health Initiative' in collaboration with NIMHANS in three districts. After the successful implementation of the pilot program, it will be extended to the whole state at a cost of Rs 25 crore," Siddaramaiah said.

"For early diagnosis of TB, two hand-held X-ray machines per district cost Rs 20 lakh each will be provided to eight districts of the state. Rs 3 crore to be earmarked," he added.

"In memory of Karnataka Ratna, Dr Puneet Rajkumar, Automated External Defibrillators (AED) will be installed in all district and taluk hospitals to aid in the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. Rs six crore for the project," CM Siddaramaiah said.

The Karnataka CM also announced that Karnataka Health Technology Laboratory will be established at the cost of Rs eight crore.

"Karnataka Digital Health Society will be established in order to implement the Ayushman Bharath Digital Mission Scheme and other digital initiatives of the health department," he added.

"Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS)  Karnataka to start state-of-the-art skill labs, research centres and indoor sports facilities at Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Hubballi, Davanagere, Dakshina Kannada and Mysuru," he further said.

Karnataka Budget 2023: Siddaramaiah blames Centre over shortage of funds for state govt schemes

Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah presented the state budget and criticised the central govenrment for reducing share in schemes and shortage of funds for state government schemes. In his speech during the budget presentation, Siddaramaiah said, "Central government is reducing its share in centrally sponsored schemes. Due to this, there is a severe shortage of funds for new state government schemes."

"The previous government increased loans to energy-supplying companies from Rs 51,087 crore to Rs 91,911 crore. In 2022-23, the central government released only Rs 447 crore for social security pension schemes, while state contributed Rs 8,636 crore. This is a ratio of 4.9 to 95.1," the chief minister said.
