The Indian Army has released a statement on the sevent round of Corps Commander-level discussions held between India and China at Chushul near the Line of Actual Control.

An army spokesman said discussions were positive, constructive & had enhanced understanding of each other’s positions.

"Both sides agreed to maintain dialogue through military & diplomatic channels, & arrive at a mutually acceptable solution for disengagement as early as possible," the spokesperson said.

"Both sides agreed to earnestly implement the important understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, not to turn differences into disputes, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas," the Army spokesperson added.

The seventh round of talks held yesterday lasted around 11 hours.

Indian side is expected to have strongly rejected China's demand for the withdrawal of Indian troops from several strategic heights on the southern bank of the Pangong lake to kick-start the disengagement process.

According to sources, "It was made clear to China that it will have to take the first step to withdraw because the People's Liberation Army moved in first in early-May."
