I don’t want to be selfish for contesting in election: Mithun Chakraborty
There has been a lot of speculation in the political arena for several days about whether Mithun Chakraborty will be an election candidate. Putting an end to all speculations, Mithun Chakraborty said that he would not contest the polls. In his words, “I will not be a candidate otherwise I will become selfish.”
Speculation that Mithun Chakraborty would contest the election was shut down when his name was missing from the BJP's final list of candidates earlier this week.
Mithun Chakraborty held three roadshows in three districts on Thursday (March 25). At the roadshow, he said, “My relationship with the people of Bengal is not that of hero and fan.
“My bond with them is from the heart. Aamar hridoyer sambandho, aatmar sambandho. I connect with them from the heart,” he added.
After holding a meeting in Shaltora, Mithun has also done road shows in Manbazar of Purulia, Jhargram and Keshiari in West Midnapore.
Responding to the external theory of the TMC, Mithun said, '- If I am an outsider, then Mother Teresa, sister Nivedita is also an outsider. People of Bengal adore them. They are not outsiders. In fact, they are outsiders who have forgotten the poor people of Bengal. I'm not an outsider. I am fighting for the development of Bengal.”
Mithun Chakraborty joined the BJP at a meeting of Narendra Modi's brigade on March 8. Upon joining, he said he would go on a statewide campaign. A few days later, Mithun made his name in the voters' list at Belgachhia-Kashipur centre. From then on, there was a lot of speculation in the political arena about his candidature. However, he gave answers to all the speculations.
