Abdullah, Karzai hold talks with Taliban acting Kabul governor, discuss protection of lives, property
Abdullah’s office in a statement said, “The acting governor pledged to “do everything possible for the security of the people of Kabul.”
National Reconciliation Council chairperson Abdullah Abdullah and former president Hamid Karzai met with Abdul Rahman Mansoor, the acting Taliban governor for Kabul, and discussed the priority of protecting people's lives, property and dignity of Kabul citizens, a local news channel TOLO News said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Taliban's co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar who is in Kabul on Saturday, is holding talks with fellow group members and other politicians to intensify efforts to establish a new Afghan government.
A senior Taliban official told AFP, "He will be in Kabul to meet jihadi leaders and politicians for an inclusive government set-up."
The Taliban’s “legal, religious and foreign policy experts” are planning to unveil a new model for governing the country within the next few weeks, an official also told Reuters, insisting it would “protect everyone’s rights” even if not a democracy by the Western definition.

Baradar, who cofounded the Taliban in 1994 and was arrested in Pakistan in 2010 in a joint operation with the United States, also issued a fatwa ordering a ban on co-education in government and private universities in the restive Herat province.
Girls will no longer be allowed to sit in the same class as boys as the militant group described it as the 'root of all evils in society'.
The militant group has also claimed that it intends to have economic and trade ties with all countries around the world, including the US.
"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wants diplomatic and trade ties with all countries, particularly with the United States of America," the group's co-founder and deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said in a Twitter posting today, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan is in total chaos as thousands still continue to flee from the clutches of the Taliban, as they fear for their lives and rights.
Kabul fell at the hands of the Taliban on Sunday, establishing the insurgents’ complete control of Afghanistan. Meanwhile, hours after Taliban entered the capital, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country stating that he left to avoid bloodshed.
