BJP worker found dead in Birbhum, party files complaint with EC

The body of a BJP worker was found near a river in Birbhum's Ilambazar area on Tuesday (March 16). The party alleges that the worker was strangled to death.

The body of a BJP worker was found near a river in Birbhum's Ilambazar area on Tuesday (March 16). The incident caused a stir in the area.

The name of the deceased is Bapi Ankur. His body was found on the bank of Shal river at Nadas village.

The BJP and the family members of Bapi Ankur have alleged that he was strangled to death. A senior police officer said,” A case of unnatural death has been lodged. The exact cause of the death will be known after the post mortem.”

BJP local leader Anirban Ganguly claimed that there were bloodstains on Bapi Ankur’s body. He further alleged that the murder could have been the outcome of TMC''s popular election song ''Khela Hobe'' (the game is on).

Anirban said, “The Election Commission must take into cognisance this slogan. We have lodged a complaint with the chief electoral officer.”
