Maninder Singh, wanted in the Red Fort violence case, has been arrested. According to the Special Cell of Delhi Police, Singh was arrested from Pitam Pura area of the national capital on Tuesday evening.

Maninder Singh alias Moni is one of the main accused in violence that was unleashed in Delhi on Republic Day during a tractor rally organised by farmer unions protesting against the three farm laws, Delhi Police officials said on Wednesday.

Police said that two swords were also recovered from his house in Swaroop Nagar. During interrogation, Singh told police that he visited Singhu border, one of the farmers' protest sites in Delhi, regularly. Singh said that he was highly "motivated" by speeches made by leaders there.

"Arrested accused has disclosed to have been radicalised by seeing provoking Facebook posts of various groups," the Delhi Police said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Court has extended actor tuned activist Deep Sidhu’s custody for another seven days.

Sidhu was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on February 9 for his alleged involvement in January 26 violence in the national capital after which was he was sent to seven-day police custody the same day.

On January 26, tens of thousands of protesting farmers had clashed with the police in New Delhi during a tractor parade to highlight their demands.

Many of them driving tractors reached the Red Fort and entered the monument, where a religious flag was also hoisted. Over 500 police personnel were injured.
