Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday chaired a high-level meeting with government officials amid rising covid cases in the national capital and said that there is no plan for a lockdown in Delhi.

He held an urgent meeting with Health Minister Satyendar Jain along with his department officials to prepare an action plan to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in view of rising cases.

Addressing a presser, the Chief Minister said, "In the last few days, Covid-19 cases in Delhi have been rising. 3,583 new cases have been reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours. This rise in cases now is the fourth wave. We are taking all possible measures, there is no need to worry."

"We are keeping a very close eye on the developments. The difference between the first few and the fourth wave is that lots are not getting treated in home quarantine itself. For the time being there is no plan to implement a lockdown. Should there be a need in future, we will discuss with the people and take a necessary decision. But as of now, no lockdown," he said.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal further said that "We are focusing on the Covid-19 vaccination, 71,000 vaccinations were done in Delhi yesterday."

The Centre should allow states to vaccinate everyone on war footing. Need to involve non-healthcare facilities in inoculation drive, he added.

On Thursday, Delhi recorded 2,790 fresh Covid-19 cases, the highest daily count this year while nine more people died due to the coronavirus infection, taking the death toll to 11,036, according to the city health department.
