No imported oxygen concentrators in Customs warehouses, says Govt

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has dismissed reports and observations on thousands of oxygen concentrators being stuck in Customs warehouses pending clearance.
The CBIC took to Twitter to clarify, "Refer to CBIC Press Note dated May 03, 2021, clarifying that there is no such pendency with Indian Customs. It is once again clarified that Indian Customs is swiftly clearing all consignments and no such figures of pendency exist across any port of import.
The clarification came after amicus curiae Rajashekar Rao reportedly the Delhi High Court that 22,920 oxygen concentrators pending at the Customs warehouse as of May 3.
The Delhi High Court is hearing the case pertaining to oxygen shortage in the national capital.
The press note that the CBIC is referring to is the Finance Ministry's May 3 clarification that contrary to the information given to the high court, there was no consignment of oxygen concentrators pending with Customs authorities.
The Finance Ministry, in the statement, said: "We have again checked with our field formations and there is no such consignment lying with the Customs. However, since a photograph has also been put on Twitter, if anybody has information as to where it is lying, the same may be informed to us and we will take immediate action."
The Delhi High Court will continue hearing the matter today.
