Jammu drone attack: 'Pakistan has still not learnt a lesson'
Pakistan has still not learnt a lesson even after the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has refused to remove them from the ‘Grey List’ yet again, an expert said.
FollowNew Delhi: After initial probe suggesting that two drones were used to carry out explosions in the helicopter hangar at the Indian Air Force technical area in Jammu, the defence and security analysts held Pakistan responsible for not reining the terrorists based out in their country.
The incident site of explosions is just 15 km away from Pakistan border.
Pakistan has still not learnt a lesson even after the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has refused to remove them from the ‘Grey List’ yet again, an expert said.
On Friday, the FATF said that Pakistan had failed to act appropriately against United Nations-designated terrorists like 26/11 accused Hafiz Saeed and JeM chief Masood Azhar.
Initial probe suggests that two drones carried IEDs. The UAVs were fitted with GPS and was given the location and target.
Talking to Asianet Newsable, former Indian Army officer who spearheaded artillery modernisation Lt Gen VK Chaturvedi (Retd) said, “Drone attack is not a difficult thing to pin-point the target. You can feed into the system, it can go and carry attack. These are the very common things... What we can do is we remain on the guard because they cannot carry very heavy warheads...”
Lambasting at Pakistan, the former Indian Army officer said, “You can never trust Pakistan. When you push them to the wall, they will always come to you and touch your feet and ask for everything like we will do this ... we will do that. They are not controlled. Basically the armed forces of Pakistan are not governed, they don’t come under the political leadership, they are non-professional armed forces and anything like this can be expected. This is the reason why people don’t trust them.. ... but unfortunately they are our neighbours.”
On carrying out the drone attacks, Lt Gen Chaturvedi said, “They are trying to prove that we are still significant and we are still not out. So that is their point to prove their existence by creating some nuance things and beyond that. Nothing beyond that. But we have to be careful...”
“Such drones have a capability of a low flying and low flying at times doesn’t come in radar’s range. I don’t give much significance to it as I don’t think there was any casualty as such, except it created some sensation and nuisance value. I’m sure that IAF is capable of handling it and they are doing it,” he added.
