The Indian Council for Medical Research has informed that its study on mixing and matching Covid vaccines Covaxin and Covishield has shown better results.Â

The study, which was conducted after the go-ahead from the Drugs Controller General of India, noted that the combination was safe.
Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar had last week informed Rajya Sabha that there was not enough scientific evidence on the mix and match studies of different vaccines since they had been developed recently.Â
So far, neither the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 nor the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization has recommended mixing and matching the first and second dose of the regimen.
Vaccination coverage crosses 50.68 crores
According to the Union health ministry, the vaccination coverage in the country has crossed 50.68 crores.Â
Overall, over 50.68 crore vaccine doses have been administered through 58,51,292 sessions.Â
The data also suggests that 55,91,657 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
