The national capital has witnessed the wettest monsoon in the last 46 years. 

According to the India Meteorological Department, thunderstorms with heavy to very heavy intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi, NCR, Noida, Dadri and Greater Noida.

An orange alert has been issued after the rainfall crossed the 1,000 mm mark.

The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain will occur over most places of Delhi-NCR. 

Videos of flooding at the Delhi International Airport have been doing the rounds on social media.

The Delhi International Airport Limited, in a statement, said that after the heavy rain waterlogged the forecourt following which its team was immediately pressed into action. 

Regretting the inconvenience caused, DIAL said that the issue has been resolved.

Reports of waterlogging also emerged from several parts of Delhi, including Moti Bagh, RK Puram, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pul Prahladpur Underpass, Madhu Vihar, Hari Nagar, Rohtak Road, Badarpur, Som Vihar, Ring Road near IP Station, Munirka, Rajpur Khurd, Nangloi and Kirari.

According to the IMD, the Safdarjung Observatory had gauged 1,100-mm of rainfall so far this monsoon season. The official marker had recorded 1,150 mm of rainfall in 1975. The monsoon normally heads out of Delhi by September 25.

In 2003, Delhi witnessed 1050 mm of rainfall while in 2010, the city received 1035.5mm.
