Afghanistan Ambassador to Sri Lanka M Ashraf Haidari on Monday publically expressed his disappointment over the Indian foreign ministry spokesperson's Twitter post which showed Indian nationals celebrating their evacuation from Kabul.

In a Twitter post that he deleted later, Haidari said, "This is so pathetic, so senseless. Jubilation for what! For leaving Afghans behind? Remember the Strategic Partnership Agreement we signed. Utter disappointment. We won't forget it!"

The Twitter post was in response to Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi's video tweet, in which a group of evacuees were heard chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. The post was captioned "Jubilant evacuees on their journey home!".

On August 16, the Afghanistan Embassy in India had in a tweet criticised the deposed President, Ashraf Ghani. However, the press secretary of the embassy, Abdulhaq Azad, claimed that he had lost access to the Twitter handle of the Afghanistan Embassy in India.

The tweet which was deleted later read, "We are all banging our heads in shame. Ghani Baba fled with his crooks. He screwed everything up. We apologise for serving the fugitive. May Allah punish the traitor. Ghani's legacy will be a stain on the history of Afghanistan."

India has evacuated over 750 Indians and Afghan nationals from Kabul since the Taliban seized the country. The evacuation drive is still on.

India has also launched an e-emergency visa for Afghan nationals who wish to come to India.

It has also set up Afghanistan special cell to have a smooth coordination process for stranded Indians and Afghans who wish to seek assistance from India in the wake of the turmoil situation in the war-ravaged country.

Till Sunday, India had received over 2,000 emergency calls. As per government sources, the External Affairs Ministry have so far reverted to 6,000 WhatsApp queries and responded to 1,200 emails seeking evacuation of stranded Indians.
