Tokyo Olympics: Novak Djokovic unsure regarding participation, qualifies for ATP Finals 2021
Novak Djokovic of Serbia won Wimbledon 2021 singles title, as he won his record 20th Grand Slam title. While he has become the first to qualify for the year-ending ATP World Tour finals, he is unsure if he would participate in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Serbia's Novak Djokovic created history on Sunday after winning his sixth Wimbledon singles title. Consequently, it was his 20th Grand Slam title, as he equalled the feat of the most Slam singles along with Switzerland's Roger Federer and Serbia's Novak Djokovic.
Owing to the same, Djokovic has become the first to qualify for the year-ending ATP Finals, set to be held in Turin between November 14-21. It would be his 14th appearance in the tournament.
In the meantime, Djokovic's next assignment would be a national duty for Serbia, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics signles. However, the Serbian has stated that he is not entirely sure if he would take part during the global event from July 23. "It's kind of 50-50 because of what I heard in the last couple days," he was quoted as saying during the post-Wimbledon press conference.

"My plan was always to go to Olympic Games, but right now I'm a little bit divided. I also hear that there's going to be a lot of restrictions within the Village. Possibly you would not be able to see other athletes perform live. I can't even have my stringer that is very important part of my team. I can't have a stringer. I'm limited with the amount of people I can take in my team as well," he added.
In case Djokovic decides to take part in Tokyo, he would be vying for the gold medal. And, provided he wins it, along with the upcoming US Open, he would become the second in the Open Era after Rod Laver to win the Calendar Slam, besides being the first male and second overall to win the Golden Slam.
