Before her, Krishna Punia had achieved this success in the London Olympic Games-2012.
Kamalpreet threw 63.97m in her second attempt in the qualification for Tokyo 2020 women's disc throw Group B.
US athlete Valerie Allman was ranked number one with a throw of 66.42 meters. She is the only athlete in the competition to throw more than 64 meters.
India's other medal hope at the event, Seema Punia, bowed out after ending 6th in her Group A.
The veteran Discus thrower failed to make the cut with her best throw of 60.57m.
In Group A, Croatia's Sandra Perkovic topped Group A with a throw of 63.75m, followed by Kristin Pudenz of Germany, who registered 63.53m.
None of the throwers in Group A managed to cross the 64m qualification mark.
