Normal life in Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru, will be disrupted due to the 'Bharat Bandh' called for by trade unions on September 2. All forms of public transport will be completely shut.

Associations of cab and auto rickshaw drivers are also supporting the bandh, and so will keep their vehicles off the road between 6 am and 6 pm on Friday.

Central trade unions have given a call for a 'Bharat Bandh' in support of their 12-point charter of demands, which include a minimum wage of ₹18000 per month in the unorganised sector.

Essential services remain unaffected:

Despite the bandh, basic services will remain untouched, keeping in the interest of general public. Hence milk, LPG gas, newspaper and vegetable services will be available. Hospitals, medical stores and clinics will also work as usual.

However, some petrol bunks and gas supplying agencies have expressed their support to bandh so petrol and LPG supply may be hit.

Four-day leave:

Most companies and offices have five-day work pattern in Bengaluru, and since Bandh would be observed on Friday, these entities would get continuous leave of 4 days, as Monday (September 5) is a state declared a holiday on the occasion of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ festival.
