Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra praised World Athletics' decision to grant $50,000 to all gold medalists at the Paris Olympic Games. He expressed his desire for similar incentives to be extended to athletes in other international competitions.

Legendary boxer MC Mary Kom has been appointed as India's contingent chef de mission for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games 2024, while veteran table tennis player and CWG champion Sharath Kamal will carry the flag for India.

The IOA highlighted the successful collaboration between the ad-hoc committee and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) in conducting the selection trials for the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournament next month.

UWW lifted India's provisional suspension on Tuesday but mandated written assurances from the national federation to prevent discrimination against the protesting trio of Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Vinesh Phogat.

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat's decision comes days after Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia and Deafylmpics champion Virender Singh Yadav returned their Padma Shri awards despite the government suspending newly elected WFI.

Following the suspension of the recently elected Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), the Sports Ministry has directed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Sunday to form an ad-hoc body for the administration and oversight of WFI affairs.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has to submit the names of all the participating athletes to Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) by July 15 and thus the ad-hoc panel needs to conduct trials before that.

The Asian Games are scheduled to commence in Hangzhou, China on September 23 and IOA is required to submit the names of the competing athletes by July 15.

Earlier, the United World Wrestling sent a warning to hold the WFI elections within the 45-day deadline or face suspension. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) too has been made aware of the development.

Indian wrestlers have still not given up on their protests against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Meanwhile, with IOA's ad-hoc panel taking control of WFI, the protesting grapplers have called it their first step to justice.

Several wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in the national capital since April 23 with a demand that the findings of a committee which was formed to probe sexual harassment charges against WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh be made public.
