In a move for justice, families of hostages still held captive in Gaza have taken their plight to the International Court of Justice, accusing Hamas of heinous acts and demanding the immediate release of their loved ones. The families are seeking international intervention to bring an end to the agonizing ordeal.

South Africa became the first country to take Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) after the Gaza war broke out on October 7. A confident Israel requested the top UN Court to dismiss the case but the ICJ has refused to shun the case.

The Israel state will fight against South Africa in the International Court of Justice against genocide allegations. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue the fight against Hamas and sharply criticized Pretoria for their hypocrisy.
 

ICJ asked Russia to stop its military operation in Ukraine, while Indian Judge Dalveer Bhandari voted in favour of the decision. 
 

While Ukraine and the US hailed the ICJ’s verdict, Russia maintained that the Hague-based court ‘lacks jurisdiction’ to hear the case.

Ukraine was represented by the US-based legal firm Covington & Burling LLP, whose Partners David Zionts, Marney Cheek, and Jonathan Gimblett represented the country. They emphasised the gravity of the situation and the irreparable harm that might befall the country and its residents if the Court does not intervene.
 

The new law would provide the right of review and reconsideration to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav 

In light of the violations of the judgment of the ICJ by Pakistan, India has stated that it reserves its position in the matter, including its right to avail further remedies, the MEA stated
