Bengaluru: Mahadevapura BJP MLA Arvind Limbavali broke down in the legislative Assembly on Monday (July 22). He claimed that he had become a victim of a “fake gay sex video” and demanded a probe into the incident.

After JD(S) MLA KM Shivalingegowda spoke about the plummeting popularity of state politicians and raised the topic on the floor of the House, Limbavali volunteered to make a statement on the issue. While Shivalingegowda claimed that legislators were being “shamed” in public, Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar tried to stop him, stating the sex video was a personal issue and not a topic to be discussed in the House. But Limbavali intervened.

Limbavali reportedly said that it is hard to even imagine a situation where the family has been traumatised. He went ahead to say that his children are suffering because of the fake sex tape video. The legislator reportedly went ahead to say that people are taking devious ways to stop them and that it could be someone from that side or this side or both. He was referring to the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition as “that side” and the BJP as “this side”. He made a request to order a probe in the House.

According to reports, the sex tape has been circulating on social media since some time and issue had been discussed in political circles over the past 10 days.

Limbavali’s assistant, Girish Bharadwaj filed a complaint with the HAL police on Friday, alleging that Limbavali’s political rivals created a morphed video to assassinate his character, reports said. Marathahalli police too have registered a separate case on the same video based on a complaint filed by local BJP leader Jayachandra Reddy PK. He demanded action against four WhatsApp group admins -- Ganesh, Manu, Ganesh Gowda and Vasantha B Eshwaragere of Devarahalli.

According to reports, MN Anucheth, deputy commissioner of police (Whitefield division) said that efforts are on to trace the miscreants who uploaded or circulated the alleged video on social media.
