The sensational Kerala godman bobbiting case took yet another turn on Monday after the woman's boyfriend alleged that a few Sangh Parivar activists forced her to change her statement and have been trying to bail out the swami, who is currently in judicial custody.

Ayyappadas, who filed a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court on Monday, stated that the 23-year-old is being illegally confined in a house near Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram. The woman is under pressure from the godman's counsel and certain Sangh Parivar activists and hence various new versions of the story are coming up, he accused.

Ayyappadas claimed the woman was forced to retract her statement to save godman Sreehari aka Swami Gangeshananda and that a clear picture would emerge once she was set free. He also alleged that a conspiracy was on to implicate him in the case.

Meanwhile, DGP TP Senkumar has ordered to hand over the case to the Crime Branch. The city police have been investigating the case so far.

The High Court posted the hearing in the habeas corpus petition for June 26, while the trial court in the capital has posted the godman's bail petition for later today.

The new developments come just days after the police asked the trial court to order a brain mapping, lie detector test and a detailed medical check-up of the woman, who has alleged that the police probe was not a fair one and only a CBI probe would reveal the truth.

The controversial case, which grabbed national headlines, has undergone a few twists and turns since the incident took place on May 18.

The woman had initially told the police that she cut off the godman's genitals when he made sexual advances towards her. She also alleged that Sreehari had been misbehaving with her ever since she was minor. She retracted her statement last week, claiming the godman never misbehaved with her and that she was forced to implicate him in the case.
