Andhra Pradesh's Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is all set to make its temple more secure with Rs 25 crore worth of anti-drone technology cover.

In the wake of a recent terror attack in Jammu using drones by an enemy country, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) held a demonstration of its anti-drone technology in which the dangerous drones can be neutralized from a few kilometers away when it is about to enter its target area.

It is reported that on direction from Jawahar Reddy, Chairman and Executive Officer of TTD, Gopinath Jetti, Vigilance and Chief Security Officer, TTD attended the demonstration that was held two weeks ago in Kolar district of Karnataka and was appraised by the authorities about the key features of the anti-drone technology.

As per reports, the technology revolves around the detection of the drones, jamming its signals and GPS and neutralizing remote location features of the drone. The system has both 'Soft Kill and Hard Kill' options. Under soft kill, it can make the drone useless from 4-kilometer range itself and under the Hard Kill feature, the small drones can be verified physically and destroyed from the distance range of 150 meters to 1-kilometer.

Public Sector Unit, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is now tasked to manufacture and market the products and the DRDO is also in talks with private and big firms for 'transfer of technology' to further scale up the production and to bring down the cost as a per system that costs Rs 25 crore.

BEL officials would be arriving at the temple to study the location before installation of the system based on TTD's request.

As per reports, the DRDO would reduce the cost by Rs 3 crore if there is bulk order for such a system and will give away the anti-drone system at Rs 22 crore.
