Most Education Departments have said that pupils would not be forced to attend school, and that if their parents do not want to send their children to school, the student can continue with online education. In the case of such pupils, teachers have been instructed to keep track of each student's progress while learning through online and offline sessions.

Meanwhile, states such as Haryana and Madhya Pradesh reopened schools for classes 4 and 5 on September 1 with written permission from their parents.
