A dozen fire engines, as well as two rescue vans and other fire department equipment, were stationed at the scene, according to the official. A video of the rescue efforts shows a person being brought to a hospital for treatment.

On Monday night, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray visited the scene of the building collapse in Mumbai's Kurla, where he stated that such property should be abandoned on the notice of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

"When the BMC issues notifications, (buildings) should be removed... otherwise, such instances occur, which is regrettable... It is now critical to take action on this," stated Thackeray. He said, "Between five and seven persons were saved. Despite the fact that all four buildings have received notifications, individuals continue to reside there. Our top priority is to save everyone... We'll look into evacuation and destruction of these structures in the morning so that surrounding residents aren't inconvenienced."
